The Conferences
Division I men’s hockey is organized into six conferences, plus a handful of independents. Each league plays its own regular-season race and postseason tournament, and the tournament champions earn automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament.

The Road to the 2027 Frozen Four
The NCAA Tournament takes 16 teams: conference tournament champions earn automatic bids, and the rest of the field is filled by at-large selections based on the PairWise Rankings. The bracket is revealed on Selection Sunday in mid-March, followed by four regionals (March 25-28, 2027) that send one team each to the Frozen Four. The national semifinals are April 9 and the championship is April 11, 2027 at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
